Have you Successfully Worked out How to Conceive a Girl? Part 1

Once you have worked out how to conceive a girl and have got pregnant your next step is confirm that you really are going to have a little girl.

Of course, having an ultrasound scan is the only sure, scientifically proven way of doing this, but there are lots of old wives’ tales and ancient wisdom which can be spookily accurate. Here are the top home methods to check if you really have found the secret of how to conceive a girl.

1. How are you carrying the baby? High and obvious from behind the mother= Girl. Low and sticking out at the front = Boy. This method has been rubbished by doctors who say that the mother’s muscle tone and body shape are the important factors here, but it remains a highly popular belief.

2. Chinese gender test. You need to add up the mother’s age at conception and add it to the month she conceived the baby (e.g. December = 12). An even number = Girl. An odd number = Boy. Try this test on a few friends who have already had babies. It is, for some reason, unsettlingly accurate, although no one knows why.

3. Sickness and nausea. If you are sick in the first three months / in the evening = Girl. If the nausea comes after 12 weeks / in the morning = Boy. There is nothing to back this one up either, although it doesn’t stop a lot of people believing in it.

4. The mother’s physical appearance. Dull, lifeless hair and skin problems = Girl. Shiny hair and nice skin = Boy. The changes which happen in the mother’s body are not really dependent upon the gender of the baby she is carrying.

5. The mother’s Cravings. Sweet foods and chocolate = Girl. Salty foods = Boy. This is another instance in which the mother has more bearing upon the results of the test than the sex of the baby.
