Lets jump forward a few months and consider what names you should call your baby daughter
If you are planning to conceive a baby girl in the near future then there is a fair chance that you have already started thinking about a name for her. Some people spend months agonising over this decision and don’t decide until she is already born, while others seem to be able to come up with the perfect name off the top of their head.
The first thing to consider is whether she is going to be named after a relative or close friend. Many new parents choose to remember a special person who has recently passed away or a favourite aunt or grandparent this way. In some cases the name is put as a second name with a different one used in front of it. This gives the girl the chance to use the name she prefers in later life.
Another point to consider is whether to use a widely used name such as Susan, Ann or Elizabeth or go for a more unusual one. You don’t have to go for a wild and wacky rock star name in order for it to be eye catching. A good idea is to check out foreign names, as many wonderful sounding names such as Salima, Yvette and Zahra sound great but aren’t very common outside of the countries they originate from. Of course, choosing a name which goes well with the surname is important, and picking a foreign name may make this a little bit more difficult in some cases.
The final thing we will look at here is the meaning of the baby girl’s name. Very few people seem to know the meaning of their own name or that of their children, but it is extremely easy to look up online these days. If you want to give her a name which means “friend” then Ruth is the one to choose. If you prefer “princess” then Sally is the correct name to pick. An interesting one is Sasha, which means “defender of mankind”.
Armed with these details you can feel more confident about conceiving a baby girl who is going to get the perfect name given to her.
